Well I had great intentions of doing many things today. I had to buy a car, and this seemingly simple transaction took up most of the day. We are also going through the process of house hunting. I guess that means building yet another workshop!!
I did mange to sand up my hinge repair today. I guess this is the nice part of working with composites, you can usually put the sticky stuff back again and fix what ever it is that you stuffed up, now that's one thing I could not do if I was building an RV 6
Sunday 6
I did the last W18 plate today, and the small rib between the two W18 plates. I marked out the aileron for the hinge rebate and the holes. I am waiting for some more hinge from Aircraft Spruce. I could re use the old one, its in fairly good state, but I would really like to have nice tight holes for the rivets. Saved two samples #, 27 c @ 51% rh.

Saturday 12
I did a bit of a workshop clean up and moved the wing off my cutting table. I had to cut some bid for the spar to root reinforcing area and some 50mm wide strips for reinforcing the spar to wing top surface.
I stood the wing on its leading edge, which made it much easier to do the lay up.
Sunday 13
With the help of my son I flipped the wing over and set it on its trailing edge. The lay up on the other side was pretty straight forward and I really had run out of things to do until it cured.

Thursday 17~Monday 21
My wife and I took a long overdue break. We flew up to Madeline Island which is on the tip of Lake Superior. Madeline Island has a 3000' airstrip on it and its one of 15 Islands in a cluster close to the shore line.
We stayed at a bed and breakfast for a few days and generally enjoyed some nice scenic flying trips.

Friday 25
Saturday 26
I clamped a couple of pieces of wood to the legs of my bench ad 90 degrees and sat the wing on it. This made it easier to do the lay up on the top side of the spar. I used icing bags to put a small flox fillet in the corner, and generally the lay up went without a hitch.
Sunday 27
I was going to put the bell cranks together, but I decided to get all of the Aluminum associated with both wings out and treat them in one go. I have been using Alodine, which is a particularly nasty mixture of chemicals. I took a lot of care with cleaning and scuffing and for some reason or other the coating turned out to be a bit patchy.
