August 2002

August was a "not a lot of much" kind of month.  I had a number of big domestic tasks I had been putting off until "next year when the Europa is flying", ah well.

I did a little flying in the Comanche and focused on trying to get the interior ready for upholstery.  To do this I needed to try an pull in as much of the wiring as I could think off, and there are certainly a lot that could go in.  I pulled in wires for the compass light, and the over head lights, along with wires for the passenger side push to talk and trim motor wiring for the pilots side.  While I was about it I pulled in some plastic tube for the stall warning horn and the wiring for the starboard side lights.

I have decided to use speckle paint in the ceiling and around the instrument panel and upholstery on the lower sections.  Most of the work for this was preparation, mainly scuff sanding and putting spray lat on the inside of the windscreen.

The last job was laying in all of the masking tape, this took most of an afternoon.  I used a light gray / black speckle paint which did a really good job.  I had never used this stuff before and it goes on pretty easily, only needing a clear protecting varnish over the top of it once it had dried.
